Carrie Belle Jenkins Sherman

Moorefield Examiner, Moorefield, West Virginia on Thursday, April 17th, 1919

In Remembrance.

In sad but loving remembrance of Mrs. Carrie B. Sherman (nee Jenkins), who departed this life March 9, 1919, aged 34 years, 5 months and 17 days.

She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, four children, mother, four sisters, two brothers and host of other relatives and friends and an aged father-in-law with whom she resided.

May God bless the husband in this his greatest affliction and may He bless and keep those little children which are deprived of a mother's love and care and may be bless grandpa in his great affliction.

One long month has passed away,
One long month since that fatal day,
When one we loved and dearly prized
Lay cold in death before our eyes,
We miss her coming footsteps,
We miss her everywhere
Home is not what it used to be
Since Carrie is not there.
We miss thy kind and willing hand
Thy fond and earnest care,
Our home is dark without thee,
We miss thee everywhere
Yet again we hope to meet thee
Where no farewell tears are shed.

Mrs. Sherman was the wife of Calvin P. Sherman and united with the United Brethren Church in early youth and has lived a Christian life.

At 1 o'clock prayer was given at the house by Rev. Smith in behalf of the bereaved family, after which they proceeded to the church and funeral services were conducted by Rev. Spitzer her pastor assisted by Rev Smith, after which the remains which had once been a happy useful life only a few hours before were laid to rest in the Mathias graveyard, there to await the resurrection morn.
